Lisa was only six years old when war reached her village in eastern Congo. The night was filled with the sound of gunfire, and as her family fled, she lost sight of her parents. Alone and terrified, she hid under the remains of a collapsed house, too scared to cry out. When the dust settled, Lisa was found by an aid worker—trembling, covered in dirt, and clutching a small, torn piece of her mother’s dress.
For days, she wandered through a refugee camp, hoping to hear her mother’s voice. But the war had stolen her family. Lisa was one of thousands of children left orphaned, hungry, and homeless, forced to grow up too soon.
Today, Lisa lives in a shelter with other war-affected children. She dreams of going to school, of having warm meals, of sleeping without fear. But she cannot do this alone. With your support, children like Lisa can receive food, medical care, and the chance to rebuild their shattered lives. Every donation provides them with hope—a warm bed, an education, and most importantly, the feeling that they are not forgotten.
Will you be a part of Lisa’s story? Will you help give her and other children a future beyond war?

In Sub-Saharan Africa food insecurity remains a challenge affecting children and undermining their health. Despite progress in recent years, millions of children in the region still suffer from malnutrition, stunting and other adverse health outcomes due to inadequate access to nutritious food. Factors such as poverty, climate change, conflicts and inadequate infrastructure causes the problem leading to a circle of poverty and deprivation for vulnerable communities. Children are more vulnerable to the impact of food insecurity. Malnutrition in early childhood can lead to irreversible damage, including stunted growth, impaired cognitive function and increased susceptibility to diseases.
