About Dr. Andrew David Musila

Dr. Andrew David Musila, 63, of Williamsport, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Edenbrook South.

Born on February 24, 1963, in Kakamega, Kenya, he was the son of the late Silas I. and Christina (Kuya) Musila.

Through faith, courage, and determination, Andrew pursued his dream of higher education when he left his village in western Kenya and journeyed to the United States in search of opportunity and purpose. He often acknowledged the many people who helped make that journey possible, especially Sister Mary Akhwale, his teacher, and his cousin, Eng. Morrison Litondo John.

Dr. Musila earned his undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock University, his master’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and later his Ph.D. in International Relations from Howard University in 2004.

A deeply intellectual and passionate educator, Dr. Musila devoted much of his life to teaching, mentoring, scholarship, and global engagement. He inspired students across multiple levels of education, serving as a teaching assistant, lecturer, faculty mentor, seminar speaker, and translator of academic materials.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Musila served as a Professor of Political Science at Commonwealth University, formerly Lock Haven University. From 2007 to 2016, he directed the university’s respected high school Model United Nations program, helping guide and inspire hundreds of students through academic leadership and international dialogue.

Beyond academia, Andrew was known for his warmth, humor, storytelling, unmistakable voice, impeccable sense of style, and deep love for family and community.

He cherished family road trips, celebrations at home, music played on his harmonica, stories from his childhood in Kenya, and moments spent with his daughters, Koki Ann and Kuya Avery Musila.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Tasha T. Boston; daughters, Koki Ann and Kuya Avery Musila; brothers, Dixon Musila and Dr. Benson Musila; sisters, Rose Shiboko and Mary Akhwale; His cherished nephew Silas Musila and many extended family members, cousins, nieces, nephews, colleagues, students, and friends whose lives were profoundly impacted by his presence.
